Story

You are John Mullins, a professional consultant with a long combat record and a reputation for getting the job done when the world's governments can't. After a long and distinguished career in the Army's Special Forces, you're now in business for yourself, taking most of your contracts from a secret organization known only as "The Shop." Together with your old friend Sam Gladstone and your new partner, Madeline Taylor, you combat terrorism around the globe.

In Soldier of Fortune 2 players reprise the role of John Mullins. Ten years ago Mullins helped smuggle Dr. Piotr Ivanovich, a leading Biopreparat scientist, out of the Soviet Union and into the welcoming arms of the United States. Now, The Shop has a new mission for John. Dr. Ivanovich has discovered multiple instances of a viral agent with properties that link directly to old experiments from his Biopreparat days. This time it seems that the ex-Biopreparat scientists are delving deeper than before, all the way into the human genome.

Your mission: take down the mysterious global terrorist organization known as Prometheus and destroy the virus before it is released upon an unsuspecting world.

Failure is not an option...

John Mullins (Todd Susman) - Born and raised in Southwest Oklahoma, Mullins served three tours in Vietnam, earning three Purple Hearts. He was also a member of the controversial PHOENIX group created to assassinate high ranking Vietcong officers. Mullins retired from the military to become a "consultant," or mercenary, twelve years ago. He now takes jobs from the U.N. anti-terrorist group called "The Shop." With a medium build, Mullins boasts strength and speed that few men possess. You are in control of John Mullins throughout the course of the game, just as in the original SoF.
Sam Gladstone (Earl Boen) - Bookstore owner and part-time employee of "The Shop." A captain in Vietnam, Gladstone excelled at recon, later spending several years with the CIA. You will meet Sam when you visit Lasky’s Used Books. He’ll put you in contact with The Shop and get you the equipment you need to complete your missions.
Madeline Taylor (Iris Bahr)- John's new partner (in the place of Hawk, killed pursuing Dekker in the original SoF). A Shop operative with a specialty in medical research. You won't actually interact with her in the field, but she will constantly provide you with vital information and hints through a CODEC-style radio in every mission.
Dr. Piotr Ivanovich (Alan Oppenheimer) - A Russian Biopreparat scientist working on a unique new virus. In a flashback mission, Mullins must go into the former Soviet Union to extract Dr. Ivanovich.
Dr. Dimitri Sestrogor (Michael Bell) - Another scientist from the former Soviet Union who may or may not be tied to the mysterious virus. That's something for Mullins to find out.
Anthony Michaels (Cam Clarke) - Director of "The Shop", and a definate Mullins ally.
Aaron Wilson (Mark Hamill) - Weasely Assistant Director of "The Shop." Not a huge fan of Mullins.

Weapons

Soldier of Fortune 2 will contain 14 weapons (many with alternate-fire modes) and 10 region-specific grenades.
Where available, there are links to weapon renders or images showing possible bolton accessories.
(Most thumbnails link to full images)

Hand-Held:

Knife - It's a knife, eh?  You poke people with it.
[ Render ]
M1911A1 - A .45 caliber semi-automatic single-action pistol with a 7-round magazine.  Renowned for its legendary "stopping power", it has been a staple of the United States armed forces from 1911 until the mid 1980s, and still in use today by special operations units worldwide.
[ Render ]
US SOCOM Mk. 23 - A .45 caliber semi-automatic double-action pistol with a 12 round magazine developed by Heckler and Koch for the United States Special Operations Command.  It has a threaded barrel to accept a silencer, and the receiver is slotted for easy mounting of a laser aiming device.
[ Render | Render With Silencer and Laser Aiming Device ]
Micro UZI - 9mm machinepistol with a 20-round magazine, based on the Israeli UZI submachinegun, capable of firing approximately 1200 rounds per minute, and designed to be fired one-handed.
[ Render ]
M590 - A 12ga pump-action shotgun with a 9-round tubular underbarrel magazine, based on the Mossberg 590. Used by the United States Marine Corps, as well as many police and law enforcement agencies around the world.
[ Render With Bayonet ]
USAS-12 - A select-fire 12ga automatic shotgun with a 10 round box or 20-round drum magazine developed by South Korean Daewoo industries.
[ Render ]
MSG90A1 - A 7.62mm semi-automatic sniper rifle with a 5 or 20-round box magazine, based on the G3 design and manufactured by Heckler and Koch as a cheaper alternative to their outstanding PSG-1 sniper rifle.
[ Render | Scope View ]
M3A1 - A WWII-era .45 cal. submachinegun with a 30-round magazine, affectionately called the "grease gun", due to its resemblance to that garage implement. Even though it has been replaced in most military applications, it continues to see widespread use because of its cheap, yet reliable design.
[ Render ]
AK74 - A 5.45mm assault rifle with a 30-round magazine, designed as an updated version of the popular AK-47 in response to a worldwide trend of using smaller-caliber rounds in assault rifles.  Very reliable in the field due to robust design and a minimum number of moving parts.
[ Render | Render With Bayonet ]
M4 - A 5.56mm assault rifle based on the M16A2 design, with a collapsible stock and shortened barrel.  Typically uses a 30-round box magazine, and is capable of being fitted with an M203 underbarrel 40mm grenade launcher.
[ Render | Render With M203 ]
OICW - Objective Individual Combat Weapon, currently being designed as a replacement for the popular M16 line of military assault rifles.  The three basic components are a "kinetic energy module", which is a modified H&K 5.56mm G36 rifle with a 30-round box magazine, a "high explosive module", which is a semi-automatic 20mm grenade launcher firing from a 6-round box mag, and a computerized day/night sighting system with integrated laser rangefinder and fire control unit.
[ HUD View ]
RPG7 - A Russian anti-tank rocket launcher.

Vehicle Mounted:

RPD - A Russian 7.62mm machinegun firing from a box magazine or belt at approx 700 rounds per minute. Based on designs from Vasily Alexseyevich Degtyarev, development of the RPD began in 1943 and serial production started after the conclusion of the Second World War. Replaced by the RPK.
M60 - A 7.62mm machinegun firing from a 100-round (or larger) belt at a rate of 550 rounds per minute. Adopted by the US military in 1950 and utilized until its replacement by the FN MAG, and later the M249 SAW.

10 region-specific grenades, including:

M67 Fragmentation Grenade - Weighs about fourteen ounces, with six and a half ounces of Composition B ignited by a tetryl booster. These can be thrown about 50 yards, and can kill anyone within a 5-yard radius. Fragmentation is achieved by using a serrated wire coil built into the grenade body. After removing the safety clip and pulling the safety pin free, the 4 to 5 second fuse is activated by releasing the safety lever.
XM84 Diversionary Flash-bang Stun Hand Grenade - A steel hexagonal tube carrying an M201A1 fuse with holes along the sides which allow a blast of light and sound to be emitted, disorienting personnel in the area of the blast. The blast is typically in the range of approximately 180 decibels at five feet and produces over one million candlepower.
AN-M14 TH13 Incendiary Grenade - The AN-M14 TH3 incendiary hand grenade is used to destroy equipment. It can damage, immobilize, or destroy vehicles, weapons systems, shelters, or munitions. The grenade may also be used to start fires in areas containing flammable materials. It can be thrown 25 meters by average soldier. A portion of the thermate mixture is converted to molten iron, which burns at 4,000 degrees Fahrenheit. It will fuze together the metallic parts of any object that it contacts. Thermate is an improved version of thermite, the incendiary agent used in hand grenades during World War II. The thermate filler of the AN-M14 grenade burns for 40 seconds and can burn through a 1/2-inch homogeneous steel plate. It produces its own oxygen and will burn under water.

Plus Equipment Items Including:
